20th Annual (2010) Minnesota Quality Award Event

Luncheon, Workshops, Reception, Celebration

Speaker Slides and Keynote Videos Links in Agenda Below!!!

Tuesday, May 17, 2011

Landmark Center, 75 5th Street W, St. Paul MN 55102 (map/web)

Don't miss this high impact, high energy, high value event!  Hear best practices in organizational innovation, and learn what drives and sustains

performance excellence… Early Bird registration extended to May 6!

Are you interested in learning from and networking with organizations on the journey to performance excellence?  How do high performing organizations continue to innovate, making meaningful changes to their products, services, process, and business models to improve customer satisfaction, workforce engagement, financial results, productivity, and competitiveness?  Would your organization benefit from hearing how businesses, healthcare providers, schools, and governmental agencies are integrating Baldrige, Six Sigma, Lean, Scorecard, and other tools to improve outcomes and results during these tough times?

You are cordially invited to the 20th Annual Minnesota Quality Award recognition, celebration, and learning event Tuesday, May 17, at the Landmark Center in St. Paul.  Come learn and network with organizations on their journey to excellence -- organizations from all sectors and of all sizes.  Hear from 14 organizations how they use a variety of improvement techniques to improve customer satisfaction; workforce engagement; financial/budgetary results; product, service, program outcomes; and operational results.

The day is divided into two parts:

  • a luncheon featuring keynotes from two high performing organizations and then an afternoon of 11 breakout workshops, featuring 14 organizations that share some aspect how they are improving their outcomes and processes.
  • an early evening of reception and celebration, rich for networking and learning as we recognize the 2010 MN Quality Award recipient organizations and hear from two other CEOs from world class organizations.  Governor Dayton is also invited to deliver remarks.

Here is a sample of the tremendous case stories you will hear:

  • AtlantiCare, a 500-bed, 5000-staff healthcare system based in Southeastern New Jersey and rated in the top 10% in the US for many clinical outcomes, while doubling volumes and tripling revenues.
  • MEDRAD, a 2000-employee, $600 million medical device manufacturer (owned by Bayer HealthCare) based in Pittsburgh, with a large facility in Coon Rapids.  MEDRAD has seen revenue grow nearly 500% in the last 12 years and margin increase 10% over the last three.
  • Montgomery County Schools, the 16th largest school district in the US, based suburban Washington DC.  With over 200 schools, nearly 150,000 students, and nearly 25,000 faculty/staff, Montgomery County has achieved very high academic outcomes: over 92% graduation, 60% college graduation within six years (twice the US average), 50% scoring 3+ in AP (US averages 17%), and some of the narrowest achievement gaps in the US, despite being the large and complex, having high free/reduced lunch rates, a 63% minority population, and high numbers of non-English speaking students.
  • Studer Group, a 130-person healthcare consulting firm from Florida that focuses on helping their clients achieve very high clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction rates, and operationa./financial superiority.  Studer’s clients enjoy a 20-percentile point advantage over non-partners on the global measures of patient perception of care; as a result, Studer has experienced 30% a year growth since 2001.
  • University of Wisconsin-Stout, an 8000-student university that is part of the UW system and based in Memomonie, WI.  Stout enjoys a job placement rate of 98% and 99% of employers rate Stout graduates as prepared.
